Life 2 The Limit 2010

In April 2010, ten ordinary people will leave behind family, friends, and the comforts of home, and embark upon an extraordinary journey of self-discovery. Armed with nothing more than the contents of a five-litre backpack, they'll set off for the raw beauty of the Asia Pacific archipelago, and 30 days alone on a remote island. Except they won't be entirely alone: they'll have snakes, insects, and thick tropical jungle for company - and, most challenging of all, each other.

There are no evictions, no immunities, no surprise luxuries: just one month learning to adjust to an alien environment, to make the jungle home, and to somehow survive on the island's fresh water, and whatever food the jungle and ocean offer. Food that will need to be hunted, trapped or caught. Hunger, sleep deprivation, and a range of emotional challenges - for the ten people involved, surviving the island could be their greatest achievement ever, as they discover exactly what it means to live Life 2 the Limit.

LIFE 2 THE LIMIT
LIFE 2 THE LIMIT

Our 10 brave adventurers will leave their families and friends as well as their jobs for over a month in order to attend this challenge. Your valuable contributions are much appreciated!

Donated money will be shared equally between the participant and his/her chosen charity and will be calculated on a PER DAY basis. Should the participant leave the island sooner than the month is over, his/her portion of the money will be cut off on that day and the remainder of his/her share will go straight to charity. Which means... the longer they last, the more money they'll keep!

Read about our adventurers and their chosen charities and donate at free will!

Tensions will rise at the island as the adventurers battle hunger, discomfort, lack of sleep, wild animals and conflicting personalities.

The group donation has three main purposes:

to cover costs incurred by everyone at the challenge,
to support a worthwhile charity, and
   to build on teamwork.

How does it build teamwork?
The first person to leave the island will cut off the funds to the group the day he/she leaves, and the remaining days' money will go to the charity instead. In other words, if the charity and the group where both getting 50% and then one person leaves on day 15, then the group keeps 25% and the charity 75%. This means that those struggling will be encouraged the most in order to last as long as possible.

CHARITY FOR GROUP DONATION

Our 10 adventurers will experience what it is like not to have a home, and will inevitably leave the challenge with a new appreciation for the comforts of safe and warm shelter. But there are people less fortunate in the world who still do not know what this is like and Life 2 The Limit hopes to make a difference in their lives. By donating to the group, half the money will be given to Habitat For Humanity South Africa, a community development organisation in the greater Cape Town, Durban and Joburg areas which helps build homes for those that need it most. Habitat's vision is "A world in which every person has a decent place to live" and their projects get families involved in building their own homes, giving them not only shelter but also a huge sense of pride and fulfilment. Created in 1996, HFHSA has built homes for over 2200 families - and today, you can help them build many more!
